Meeting in Montana can seem daunting for planners unfamiliar with the Treasure State. While it might not be on everyone’s list for smaller meetings or regional conventions, it should be. Montana offers something special—a retreat from the hustle and bustle of urban life into a mountain setting, rich with outdoor activities that can seamlessly integrate into your meeting agenda. We’ve spoken to many planners over the years, and these are some of the most common questions they have when Western Montana comes up as an option. Do any of these resonate with you?

1. My clients or attendees only consider direct flight markets.
Western Montana’s Glacier Country: We understand that easy access is key. 18 direct flight markets service Western Montana through Missoula Montana Airport (MSO) and Glacier Park International (FCA), which serve Kalispell, Whitefish, and Glacier National Park. While the journey may include a connecting flight, the reward is a breathtaking destination that leaves a lasting impression.

2. Do you have Uber, Lyft, or other transportation options?
Western Montana’s Glacier Country: Absolutely. Uber and Lyft operate here, along with various transportation companies. Many of our convention hotels also offer complimentary airport shuttles to arriving and departing visitors. Whether your attendees want to go whitewater rafting, visit an art gallery, or enjoy a night of theater, we can ensure they get there and back easily with local bus charter services.

3. We only book at 4-star+ resorts.
Western Montana’s Glacier Country: Western Montana has 4-star resorts and even 5-star guest ranches that offer luxury with a rustic twist. While we might not have a Four Seasons or a Ritz Carlton, our 3-star hotels often deliver 4-star service, creating exceptional experiences that embody Montana’s unique charm. Consider Whitefish’s Grouse Mountain Lodge or The Lodge at Whitefish Lake. Kalispell’s Hilton Garden Inn or Kalispell Grand Hotel. The DoubleTree by Hilton Missoula – Edgewater and the Residence Inn by Marriott Missoula Downtown offer fabulous service, as do our other convention properties.

4. Is it too cold in the spring or fall?
Western Montana’s Glacier Country: Spring and fall are perfect times to hold a meeting here. While spring weather can be unpredictable, with temperatures ranging from sunny and warm to light snow, it’s all part of Montana’s charm. September and October offer warmer weather with less demand, making them ideal for meetings. Plus, our dry air makes any snowflakes that fall light and magical. 5. What kind of food can we expect?
Western Montana’s Glacier Country: Montana’s cuisine is often a highlight for meeting attendees. From farm-to-table offerings to premium steaks and bison burgers, the food here is fresh and flavorful. And don’t miss out on our huckleberries—they’re a local favorite! We also easily cater to gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and vegetarian diets. While ethnic cuisine options might be fewer, the ones you find are authentic and delicious. We recently held a FAM for media in the meetings market and this is what they had to say about the experience and the food.

6. We usually choose warm beach destinations for corporate or incentive meetings. Why Montana?
Western Montana’s Glacier Country: If you’re looking to switch things up, Montana in winter is an unforgettable experience. Imagine ice skating on a private pond, taking a horse-drawn sleigh ride through snowy forests, or trying skijoring (being pulled on skis by a horse). And with seven downhill ski destinations in Western Montana, your attendees can enjoy some of the best powder in the country. Warm up by a roaring fire in the evening—what could be cozier and inviting? If looking for spring or fall time frames, Western Montana offers thrilling and memorable experiences, like horseback riding, cattle drives, UTV rides, hot air ballooning, and authentic rodeos amongst the most stunning natural beauty. All of this while still having spa services, gourmet meals and a high level of comfort and indulgence they expect from a beach destination, but better.
